On August 8th, the Voices of Think Tanks event series by ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance and the special lecture in Brazil on "Belt and Road" International Science and Technology Cooperation was held successfully in the ITEC Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park in Chaoyang District.

The event was jointly hosted by the ZGC Global High-level Think Tank Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the "Think Tank Alliance") and Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "BJAST"). It was undertaken by the Center for International and Regional Cooperation of the BJAST and the "Belt and Road" International Science and Technology Cooperation Training Center, and was supported by Chaoyang District Talent Work Bureau of Beijing and Beijing (Wangjing) Overseas Students Pioneer Park, China. 

The following heads attended the event and delivered speeches: Wu Jianmin, Chairman of ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance and President of Beijing Academy of Science Technology, Ji Wei, Deputy Director of the Department of North America and Oceania of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Daniela Rogatis, Co-founder of Brazil Young Leaders Program. Li Junkai, Secretary-General of the Think Tank Alliance and Director of the Center for International and Regional Cooperation of the BJAST, presided over the event. The event included several sections such as speeches, policy and status sharing, exchanges, interaction and the on-site visit. About 50 representatives of young leaders from the organizing committee of Brazil Young Leaders Program as well as from organizers and more than 10 enterprises attended the event.

In his speech, Wu Jianmin said that the continuous deepening of scientific and technological cooperation between China and Brazil has brought more opportunities and innovation impetus for the economic development and sustainable development of both sides. The holding of the event is conducive to promoting dialogue and cooperation between China and Brazil in scientific and technological innovation. He pointed out that the Think Tank Alliance and Beijing Academy of Science and Technology will adhere to the principles of openness, sharing and win-win cooperation. It will continuously promote and deepen exchanges and cooperation with institutions in Brazil in scientific and technological innovation, and contribute to the construction of international center for science and technology innovation in Beijing as well as to global scientific and technological innovation.

Ji Wei expressed his gratitude to the Think Tank Alliance and Beijing Academy of Science and Technology for preparing for the event, and pointed out in his speech that the economies of China and Brazil are highly complementary and have broad prospects for scientific and technological cooperation. He said that as a national organization specializing in people-to-people diplomacy, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries has always been committed to promoting friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries, and has continuously deepened people-to-people understanding and friendship through various ways such as organizing activities and mutual visits. He hoped that through this event, the friendship between the two peoples could be further deepened and the scientific and technological cooperation between China and Brazil could continue to have new achievements.

Daniela Rogatis expressed her expectation for China-Brazil cooperation in science and technology. She said that the Brazil Young Leaders Program will continue to promote exchanges and cooperation between young people from China and Brazil, and inject new vitality into the cooperation between the two sides in scientific and technological innovation.

In the session of sharing policies and present situation, Du Lei, Director of Coordination Division for “Two Zones” (Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Greater Service Sector Openness and China Beijing Pilot Free Trade Zone) gave a detailed introduction to the latest measures and policies entitled Opportunities of Building “Two Zones”: A New Chapter of China-Brazil Cooperation. He stressed that Beijing, as the capital of China and the center of science and technology innovation, has strong scientific research strength and market potential. We welcome Brazilian enterprises and institutions to develop in Beijing and open a new chapter in China-Brazil cooperation jointly with us.

Chang Di, Chief and Overseas Promoter of the ITEC project gave an impressive presentation of the Global Entrepreneurship Competition of 12th Chaoyang International Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (ITEC 2024), and sincerely invited Brazilian entrepreneurs to participate.

Hou Xue, Deputy Director of Global Industry Institute (International Research Centers), China Center for Information Industry Development shared experience and suggestions focusing on the "latest progress, trend research and estimation of the large models of artificial intelligence at home and abroad.

After the session of sharing, the guests and delegates had a heated exchange and discussion on the theme of China-Brazil cooperation in science and technology. Everyone said that this event not only enhanced mutual understanding and friendship, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Subsequently, the participants also visited the ITEC Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park in Chaoyang District to experience the environment of innovation and entrepreneurship and view scientific and technological achievements in Beijing.

The success of this event and lecture not only has deepened the mutual understanding and trust between China and Brazil in scientific and technological innovation, but also has opened up a broader space for future cooperation between the two sides.
